Welcome to Kids in Koncert 2011-12!
It's going to be a “monumental” season!
If you are new to Kids in Koncert this letter will hopefully answer some of your questions and help your child be prepared for what will be an incredible journey this year.
MONUMENTAL TOUR
How exciting to have the opportunity to tour to Washington DC and NYC this year! We are working extraordinarily hard to keep these costs down and anticipate that additional fundraising will be needed to do the extras....(broadway show, specials meals, etc). Our first parent meeting will be on Tuesday, October 11 @ 5:30 p.m. Please make plans to attend. We will be going over the beginnings of our travel itinerary; events planned for the year and discuss fund raising. We will have at least 2 more meetings over the course of the year. Those dates will be sent out to your student in writing and listed on the website. In the meantime, a great fundraising resource for us is our yefsite. The address is KIK.YEFsite.com. On that site you can purchase YEF cards that can be used at local businesses as well as order fan gear etc. More information regarding this and other fundraising ideas will be discussed at the first parent meeting. If you are planning on traveling with the group and have not signed up yet, please do so asap. We may not be able to guarantee the same rate and/or flights for you should you sign up late. Please let us know no later than October 1.
REHEASAL INFO
Kids in Koncert meets twice a week. Tuesdays & Thursday from 5:30-7. Check the calendar for adjustments to this schedule. Your student should come on time and prepared each week with a binder to keep their music in and a pencil for taking notes. Some students find it helpful to have a small voice recorder as well. When a show is in production in the Black Box our rehearsals get out @ 6:30 on Thursdays; again, check the schedule. If your student will need to miss a rehearsal, they need to let Troy know ahead of time in writing. Please avoid scheduling appointments during rehearsal times.
UNIFORMS
Your student will have 2 uniforms for Kids in Koncert. When we have an informal or outdoor event such as the Living Christmas Tree, your student will expected to wear Khaki pants, dark leather shoes & belt, dark socks, a white button down oxford type shirt and their KIK sweatshirt. If you are a returning student, please try on your sweatshirt and see if it still fits. For new students order forms for sweatshirts will be going home soon. Indoor and more formal events will have the students wearing their formal dress which will be provided to them by the playhouse. We will also travel with these uniforms to DC & NYC. If you are available to help us out with the fitting of uniforms and/or sewing, please contact Cathie Shaughnessy.
